Edmonton, AB – Alberta Lacrosse Association (ALA) President Greg Lintz announced today that Calgary Roughnecks defender Andrew McBride will be joining the ALA as Technical Director.

The Technical Director is responsible for providing all technical services required by the Association. This includes supervision of all provincial team coaches, working with volunteers and committees, and ensuring the implementation of ALA policies and plans.

“Andrew’s in-depth lacrosse resume brings a new level to this position. It will go a long way toward supporting the ALA Executive Board and association members who are seeking to enhance the game of lacrosse within our province,” states President Greg Lintz.

McBride, a long-time NLL player and current captain with the Calgary Roughnecks, brings expertise in developing and hosting lacrosse clinics, camps and fundamental skill development, within the Province of Alberta and throughout Canada.

He currently oversees Calgary Roughnecks Classroom Lacrosse, presented by Painted Pony Petroleum Ltd., a grassroots program that has visited 225 schools and worked with over 50,000 students since its inception in 2010. The program focuses on healthy living, learning the history of lacrosse, and the demonstration and practice of skills.

“The acceptance of this position with the ALA is an opportunity for me to bring my passion and knowledge to a dedicated group of people working to grow the sport of lacrosse,” states McBride. “I look forward to the challenge and to meeting association members of the ALA throughout the province.”
