The Riggers have re-signed goaltender Frankie Scigliano & signed Matt Flindell.
Calgary Roughnecks general manager Mike Board announced today that the National Lacrosse League club has re-signed goaltender Frankie Scigliano and signed goaltender Matt Flindell to one-year contracts for the 2013 NLL season. Scigliano and Flindell join 2012 Goaltender of the Year Mike Poulin who enters the second year of his three-year contract.
“Frankie is a good, young developing goalie who gained valuable experience in the league last season,” said Board. “He wants to continue to improve and we’re happy to have him come back to develop and compete for playing time this season.”
Scigliano, a native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, finished the 2012 regular season with a 2-1 record while posting a 10.70 goal-against average and .797 save percentage over 168 minutes played. The Roughnecks selected the 20-year-old goaltender in the second round, 18th overall, in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft.
Flindell, a Victoria, British Columbia product, made his NLL debut in 2009 with the Portland Lumberjax, registering an 11.60 goal-against average and .789 save percentage over 124 minutes played. During the 2012 WLA season, Flindell played summer lacrosse with the Victoria Shamrocks alongside Roughnecks forward Jeff Shattler and defencemen Dan MacRae and Greg Harnett. He finished the season ranked ninth amongst WLA netminders, dressing for 15 games and posting an 8.73 goals-against average with a .804 save percentage.
“Matt is excited with the opportunity to get back into the league,” commented Board on the 25-year-old goaltender. “He is young and skilled and adds depth to the goaltending position.”
