Roughnecks and Rush introduce 'Homes by Avi' Lacrosse Cup

CALGARY, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks, Edmonton Rush and Homes by Avi are pleased to announce the Homes by Avi Battle of Alberta Lacrosse Cup, a partnership for the four-game series between the two clubs for the 2013 National Lacrosse League season.

The team that records the most wins over the four-game regular season series, culminating on Saturday, April 20 in Edmonton, will win the Homes by Avi Battle of Alberta Lacrosse Cup.  In addition, the series champion will provide the KidSport agency in their city with a monetary donation.  In the event of a series split, the winner will be determined by the series goal differential.  All four games will be aired live on Sportsnet ONE (check local listing for details).

“We have offices in both Calgary and Edmonton, so for us, the Battle of Alberta is as much about business as it is about sport,” said Christian Orme, Homes by Avi Sponsorship Specialist, Special Projects.  “Sponsoring an event like this gives us the opportunity to generate excitement and a fun, competitive spirit among the two cities, as well as help out local charities.”

“The Battle of Alberta always has significance for the fans whether it is lacrosse, hockey, football or any other sports,” commented Roughnecks Director of Business Operations Mike Moore.  “The Roughnecks and Rush continue to build a rivalry and we are very pleased that Homes by Avi has come on to support and grow this terrific provincial tradition.”

The Homes by Avi Battle of Alberta Lacrosse Cup kicks off on Saturday, February 2 when the Roughnecks (2-2) travel to Edmonton to face the Rush (1-2) at Crystal Glass Field at Rexall Place (7 p.m., Sportsnet ONE).

Calgary returns to the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday, February 9 when the Roughnecks host the Rush in back half of the home-and-home set, with a 7 p.m. face-off.  Single game day tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations and the Scotiabank Saddledome box office for as low as $34 for adults and $17 for children (plus GST and SFPFF).  Order online at or by phone at 1-855-985-5000.  For more information on tickets, visit or contact customer service at 403-777-4646.
