Calgary, AB - Calgary Roughnecks General Manager Mike Board announced today the National Lacrosse League (NLL) club has signed right-handed forward Shawn Evans to a three-year contract.

Evans was acquired in a trade with the Rochester Nighthawks at the NLL Entry Draft on September 21, 2011.

The Roughnecks traded their fifth overall pick in 2011 to Rochester in exchange for Evans and a first round selection in the 2012 Entry Draft.

Evans had played his entire six-season career with Rochester, scoring 143 goals and 220 assists in 93 regular season games played. Last season, the 25-year-old finished 14th in league scoring registering 24 goals and 49 assists in 16 games, and scooped up 96 loose balls.

“We are pleased to have a player of Shawn's caliber signed for three seasons,” said Board. “He will be a very important part of the core of our team for years to come.”

“The Calgary Roughnecks have consistently fielded a very strong team,” commented Evans.  “I am excited to join the Roughnecks and do my part to help win another NLL Championship.”
