Calgary, AB – Calgary Roughnecks Head Coach and Assistant General Manager Curt Malawsky is pleased to announce that Geoff Snider and Dane Dobbie will join captain Andrew McBride and alternate captain Mike Carnegie on the Roughnecks leadership team for the 2014 NLL season. Snider and Dobbie will split alternate captain duties, with Snider wearing an ‘A’ at home and Dobbie wearing an ‘A’ on the road. McBride will wear the ‘C’ for the fourth consecutive season and Carnegie will serve as alternate captain both at home and on the road for the four-straight year.

“Geoff will be a great addition to our leadership group. Over the last few seasons he has evolved into an ambassador of the culture and standards created within the Roughnecks organization,” said Malawsky. “Geoff wants to win, period. His willingness to do that, whether it is standing up for his teammates, dominating in the face-off circle or creating team transition, is unrivaled.”

Snider, a native of Calgary, Alberta, finished the 2013 regular season with a league-leading 310 face-off wins, 235 loose balls and 69 penalty minutes over 15 games played. The 32-year-old transition player has appeared in 43 games over the past three seasons with Calgary, recording 68 points (37 goals, 31 assists), 821 face-off wins (first among all franchise players) and 198 penalty minutes along with collecting 638 loose balls over that span. Snider spent four seasons with the Philadelphia Wings before being acquired by the Roughnecks in August 2010.

“Dane’s passion and willingness to compete is second to none. He lives, breathes and sleeps lacrosse,” commented Malawsky. “The Roughnecks organization and his teammates are on his mind 24/7, and it is that kind of selflessness, dedication, commitment and passion that we are looking for in a leader.”

Dobbie, a native of Elora, Ontario, finished the 2013 regular season in the top-3 in team scoring with 40 goals and 32 assists for 72 points. The 27-year-old forward, who is entering his seventh NLL season, has spent his entire NLL playing career with the Roughnecks. Selected by Calgary in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft, Dobbie has recorded 360 points, including 183 goals, and collected 272 loose balls over 78 career games played.
