TORONTO, ON – Calgary Roughnecks forward Marty Dinsdale netted five goals to pace the Roughnecks offence on route to a convincing 14-5 win over the Toronto Rock to open the pre-season at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre on Saturday.
Last season’s NLL leading goal scorer, Dane Dobbie, and Geoff Snider each added two goals for Calgary while Casey Jackson, Daryl Veltman, Jordan McBride, and Connor Goodwin rounded out the scoring. Calgary’s offence was firing on all cylinders as they scored from all areas of the floor and converted on 50 percent of their power play opportunities.
Mike Burke led the charge on offence with a pair of goals for Toronto who struggled offensively and failed to score on the powerplay with 12 opportunities. They went scoreless on all twelve of their power play chances.
Both clubs were missing key players in the contest. Calgary was without Shawn Evans, Jeff Shattler, Curtis Dickson, Jon Harnett, Greg Harnett and Peter McFeteridge. On the sidelines for Toronto was Rob Marshall, Patrick Merrill, Josh Sanderson, Kasey Beirnes, Sandy Chapman and Colin Doyle.
The Roughnecks square off against the Minnesota Swarm in an exhibition match tomorrow in Toronto at 10 AM MT.
