CALGARY, AB — The Calgary Roughnecks open their season on January 2nd when the reigning champion Saskatchewan Rush come to town.

After the exciting Holiday Party Showcase on December 20th, lacrosse fever has creeped back into Calgary.

The boys are excited for the season and here’s five reasons why you should be too:

1) 15TH YEAR!

It’s a banner year for the Roughnecks as the 2016 season marks the Riggers’ 15th! In those 15 years, the team has won two Champion’s Cups, only had one losing season – their inaugural campaign, and has provided Calgary sports fans with a party since day one. Make sure to come to the Rough House and help us celebrate the 15th season!

2) LOTS OF THIS!

3) FRESH FACES

The 2016 Roughnecks has many new faces after the departures of Shawn Evans, Daryl Veltman, Travis Cornwall, Geoff Snider, Andrew McBride, and Jeff Moleski. However, it won’t take long for you to cheer for the new-comers like Tyler Digby, Wesley Berg, Reilly O’Connor, and Brandon Goodwin. These extremely talented youngsters will bring excitement and passion to the floor each and every night. Joining a core that boasts the likes of Curtis Dickson, Dane Dobbie, Jeff Shattler, Frankie Scigliano, Mike Carnegie, Karsen Leung, and more, the team is in great shape heading into 2016.

4) LAX TO THE MAX

Once again, the Roughnecks are hosting the incredible and super fun Superhero and Redneck Nights! Get your costumes ready and come rock the Rough House as your favourite superhero on Feb. 6 and then get your camp on for a rowdy redneck party on Mar. 19! These are can’t miss events for the new year!

5) LACROSSE IS BACK!

There is only 1 days before the Roughnecks take the floor at Scotiabank Saddledome and being the 2016 season!
