Setting The Scene:

The Roughnecks (1-4) are on the road up QEII Highway to take on the Georgia Swarm (2-3) Friday night at Rogers Place in Edmonton for the NLL “UnBOXed Series” with face-off set for 8 p.m. on TSN 1/5 and ESPN+.

It will be the first time professional box lacrosse is played in Rogers Place, and the first time an NLL game will be held in the city in more than a decade.

Calgary is coming off of an emotional 11-10 overtime loss at the hands of the Vancouver Warriors in Week 7. Riggers forward’s Tyler Pace and Haiden Dickson led the way with seven-point nights, and Tanner Cook extended his hot play, scoring four to take the team lead in goals (13).

Georgia (2-3) enters Week 8 hungry for a win after losing a tight 7-5 game to the Colorado Mammoth in Week 7. Veteran forward Lyle Thompson chipped in with a goal and a pair of assists in the loss.

Heading into Week 8 of the NLL Regular Season, Roughnecks face-off specialist Justin Inacio is currently fourth in the NLL for loose balls with 55. While Dickson is just five goals away from reaching 100 in his NLL career.

Head-To-Head:

Last season, the teams only met once as the Riggers picked up a 12-11 overtime win at the Saddledome. Dickson scored the overtime winner and Brayden Mayea had a big five-point night. Bennett Smith was also a standout in this game on the back-end with a goal and an assist.

The two teams will see each other again for their second and final meeting in Calgary on Feb. 15 for PJ Party night at the Saddledome, with face-off set for 6:00 p.m.
