CALGARY, AB — It was not a great week in the MSL for the Calgary Roughnecks.

In six games played between three runners, they were only able to combine for two points.

Wesley Berg scored the lone goal this week, a beauty while shorthanded. That shorthanded goal was able to help lift the Oakville Rock over the Brampton Excelsiors. Dan MacRae played in both contests, but the talented transition player was unable to contribute on the offensive side of the ball.

Tyson Bell, another Roughnecks rookie, contributed the second point of the week. Bell earned the second assist on a goal scored by Phillip Caputo 15 seconds into the second period.

Mike Poulin suited up for two of the Brooklin Redmen’s three games this week, but was on the bench to start each game. Poulin would not be called upon in the teams’ 9-7 loss to the Six Nations Chiefs.

Poulin was needed against the Peterborough Lakers after starter Zack Higgins was blasted for six goals in the opening frame. The Poulin Wall was strong in net, making 31 saves on 38 shots the rest of the way. The Redmen weren’t able to close the gap and Poulin would be saddled with the loss.

Reilly O’Connor was not in the line-up for any of the Redmen’s games this week.
