CALGARY, AB — How sweep it is for the Oakville Rock.
Led by Dan MacRae and Wesley Berg, the Rock put up back-to-back wins against the Brooklin Redmen and Brampton Excelsiors.
In their first contest versus the Redmen, MacRae assisted a goal in transition, while Wesley Berg netted two goals – including a penalty shot.
In Brampton, MacRae did not find the scoresheet, but Berg provided a strong performance. Oakville’s leader in goals scored, Berg assisted on a couple goals early on in the game, but came through in the clutch, scoring the game’s final two goals – including the game winner.
For Tyson Bell and his Excelsiors, it wasn’t a fantastic week.
First of all, Brampton was taken down 7-5 in their only game of the week against the Rock. Secondly, Bell was unable to help his squad find the back of the net, while finding himself in the penalty box for a couple of minutes.
The week was a bit of a mixed bag for goaltender Mike Poulin.
The Poulin Wall was beat early by Oakville in the first period of their game, being pulled in favour of Zack Higgins. Poulin and Higgins would split the entire second period, with Higgins playing the entirety of the final frame. Poulin was saddled with the loss after allowing six goals on 28 shots.
A couple days later, Poulin looked like a whole new man. The veteran netminder was fantastic in net, making 47 saves on 55 shots to help secure a win over a tough Six Nations Chiefs squad.
Curtis Dickson is still absent from the Peterborough Lakers line-up.
