Calgary, AB – The Calgary Roughnecks today announced the National Lacrosse League club has re-signed defenceman Mike Carnegie to a two-year contract.

Carnegie, who is entering his ninth NLL season, has spent his entire playing career with the Roughnecks after joining the club as free agent for the 2008 season. The 31-year-old from London, Ontario has appeared in 125 games over the past eight seasons, recording 55 points (18 goals, 37 assists) and 489 loose balls over that span. He was a member of the 2009 NLL championship team and has posted nine points (three goals, six assists) and collected 82 loose balls in 22 career playoff games.

“As one of our veterans, Mike is a key component of both our defensive unit and leadership group,” said Roughnecks general manager Mike Board. “He leads by example with not only a strong physical presence but with a tremendous work ethic and commitment to excellence. His dedication to the sport is highly regarded among his teammates and we are pleased to have him continue to contribute on the floor and in the dressing room.”
