The Roughnecks will hope to move to 2-0 on Saturday night when they are in Albany to battle the Firewolves at 5 p.m. MT on TSN+, ESPN+ and NLL+.
The Riggers (1-0) won an entertaining 18-17 slugfest over Halifax last weekend led by Jesse King (2g, 8a), Curtis Dickson (5g, 4a) and Dane Dobbie (5g, 4a). The Roughnecks explosive offence will get another boost this weekend as Tyler Pace returned to the team after signing a one-year deal on Wednesday.
Albany (1-1) picked up their first victory of the season last weekend, crushing the Toronto Rock 14-5. The Firewolves fell in their season opener 10-9 in overtime against the Rush in Saskatchewan a week earlier.
Jesse King matched a single-game high in points with his 10 last weekend. He previously hit that mark in his rookie year with Georgia back in 2016. His eight assists were also new game high for him. This is the only matchup between the Roughnecks and the Firewolves this season.
Last year the Roughnecks took down Albany 10-9 in overtime at the Rough House off a Tanner Cook OT winner. This will be the Riggers first game in Albany since the franchise moved from New England in the 2021-22 season.
Players To Watch
Roughnecks: F Dane Dobbie: Fresh off picking up NLL Player of the Week honours, Dobbie will look to continue his hot start. The veteran forward had one goal and five assists against the Firewolves last season while playing with San Diego.
Thunderbirds: G Doug Jamieson: Last year’s runner up for Goaltender of the Year had a huge weekend against the Rock stopping 42-of-46 shots.
