It’s time to get to know defender Carter Cook

Cook, 21, was drafted in the fourth round (54th overall) by the Riggers in the 2024 NLL Draft.

After making the team out of camp this season, the rookie has played in three games, posting an assist and seven loose balls to go with three blocked shots.

The Alberta product says the best part has been getting to know the team better.

“It’s been great,” he explained. “You know, it’s actually my first year making the team, so it’s just nice getting to know everyone even deeper.

“You know, going to battle with everyone, It’s been good, getting to know all these guys and then just competing. It’s such high skill and a great level to play at. It’s been awesome.

Q: How did you get into lacrosse?

A: I got in through a family friend in Lethbridge. I was always a big hockey player so I just went out, tried it once when I was around 10-years-old and I just fell in love with it and started playing it from there.

A: I’m good at Call of Duty

Q: Occupation?

A:  Right now I’m going to school to become a chiropractor, so I still got five years to go, but that’s the plan.

Q: Favourite athlete growing up?

A: I would have to go with Sidney Crosby.

Q: Morning person or night owl?

A: I would say more morning.

Q: If you could be a pro in any other sport, what would it be?

A: I’ll go with golf.

Q: Do you have any superstitions?

A: Yeah, I’d say it’s more of a routine for sure. But you know, I do the same stretches in order. When I get to the rink, I have a planned out schedule.

Q: When you’re not playing lacrosse, what’s your biggest hobbies?

A: I love hiking and going to the mountains. I like playing other sports, working out, stuff like that.

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A: A pro lacrosse player.

A: I think it’d be cool to go to Switzerland.

Q: If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: I would have to go just chicken and rice. I’m thinking more like Chipotle style, but I could crush that every single day of the week.
