CALGARY, AB – Calgary Roughnecks general manager Mike Board today announced the team has re-signed defenceman Jon Harnett to a one-year contract, pending league approval.

Harnett, a native of Orangeville, Ontario, began his National Lacrosse League playing career in Boston before joining the Roughnecks for the 2011 season. The 27-year-old defenceman has recorded 58 points (seven goals, 51 assists), 153 penalty minutes and 401 loose balls over seven seasons and 107 career games.

During the off-season, Harnett helped the Victoria Shamrocks of the Western Lacrosse Association capture the club’s ninth Mann Cup after defeating the MSL’s Peterborough Lakers in six games.

The Roughnecks will open their 15th anniversary season at home against the defending NLL champion Saskatchewan Rush (formerly Edmonton) on Saturday, Jan. 2, with a 7 p.m. faceoff at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
