Calgary, AB – The Calgary Roughnecks today announced the National Lacrosse League club has re-signed defenceman Dan MacRae to a one-year contract.

MacRae, who recently completed his fifth NLL season, has spent his entire playing career with the Roughnecks. The Oakville, Ontario, native has appeared in 73 career games, recording 45 points (11 goals, 34 assists), 82 caused turnovers and 316 loose balls over that span. The 27-year-old defenceman was selected by the Roughnecks in the first round, sixth overall, in the 2010 NLL Draft.

“Dan is a smart, solid defender who can play in all situations,” said Roughnecks general manager Mike Board. “He is athletic and can use his speed to create transition opportunities for us. We’re happy to have him re-sign in Calgary and look forward to him being a part of our ultimate goal, winning the Champion’s Cup.”

MacRae has had a successful off-season with the Victoria Shamrocks of the Western Lacrosse Association, helping the Shamrocks advance to their third consecutive Mann Cup appearance which begins Sept. 4 at The Q Centre in Victoria, B.C.
