The Riggers were outscored 3-0 in the final quarter on Saturday in San Diego leading to a 12-9 loss.

The defeat drops the Roughnecks to 0-2 to start the season.

Haiden Dickson got the scoring started for the Riggers for a second straight week just under four-minutes into the contest.

The Seals were able to tie it up before Jesse King put home a quick-stick on the powerplay to put the Riggers up 2-1.

Shane Simpson added to the ‘Necks lead on a full floor pass from Christian Del Bianco to make the score 3-1.

That would be the score heading into the second-quarter as Del Bianco was lights out in net through 15-minutes.

The Seals opened the scoring in the second with a low shot to make the score 3-2.

San Diego would even the score at three halfway through the quarter.

The two teams continued to play tight-checking defence. It wasn’t until Tyler Pace found the back of the net with under one-minute to play in the half that the tie was broken, 4-3 Roughnecks was the score heading into the break.

Pace opened the second-half with a powerplay goal, his second goal in a row to make the score 5-3.

Simpson picked up his second of the night off a nice pick from Ethan Ticehurst to put the Riggers up ahead three, 6-3.

The Seals got within two shortly after making it 6-4.

The Seals took a major penalty five-minutes into the third-quarter but it was the Seals who would strike shorthanded to make the score 6-5.

The Riggers thought they had a goal on the powerplay but it was determined that Dickson was in the crease negating the goal. The Seals added another shorthanded goal on the major to tie the game up.

San Diego took the lead shortly after as a dunk from behind the net put them up 7-6.

Pace picked up his second straight hat-trick to start the year just 27-seconds after the Seals took the lead to tie the game 7-7.

But once again the Seals took the lead jut 24-seconds later to make it 8-7.

San Diego added to their lead late in the quarter making the score 9-7.

The Riggers got back within one as Pace grabbed his fourth of the night with a far side ripper. It was 9-8.

Dickson tied it up with his second of the night for the Riggers with 1:17 remaining in the third-quarter.

The two teams went into the final quarter tied 9-9.

The Seals got the first goal of the fourth-quarter during four-on-four play making it 10-9.

San Diego went up two halfway through the quarter, the score was 11-9.

The Seals would add one more to make the final 12-9.

The Riggers are off until Dec. 30 when they host the Las Vegas Desert Dogs in the home opener.
