CALGARY, AB — It was a slow week for the Calgary Roughnecks in the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) League.

Of the six Riggers in the MSL, only three made appearances this past week, two of which played for the Oakville Rock.

The MSL’s leading goal scorer, Wesley Berg, had himself a couple of strong games, scoring four more goals and adding an assist. Two of his goals were scored on the power play, including the opening goal in a 9-4 win over the Brampton Excelsiors.

On the back-end, Dan MacRae did not find the scoresheet against the Excelsiors, but he showed up with an unassisted goal against the Six Nations Chiefs. Unfortunately, MacRae’s tally was not enough for the Rock to win as the Chiefs took the game 11-10 in overtime.

In Brampton, MSL rookie Tyson Bell was keeping things physical.

In two contests, he compiled 12 penalty minutes, being called for two major penalties. He did make up for it when he scored to help the Excelsiors defeat the Cobourg Kodiaks, 13-6.

As the league heads into the final week, the playoff matches have pretty much been set and a quartet of Roughnecks players will be looking to lead their team to a Mann Cup berth.
