CALGARY, AB — Seven members of the Calgary Roughnecks took to the floor in Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) action this week.

And each found the scoresheet.

Looking to repeat as Mann Cup Champions, the Victoria Shamrocks are off to a strong start. With two wins last week, they now sit atop the standings with a 3-0 record.

Against the New Westminster Salmonbellies, Tyler Burton scored a goal while Greg and Jon Harnett each added an assist.

A day later and in his first game of the season, Jeff Shattler stole the spotlight with two goals and five assists. Burton added a goal for his second in two games.

With two losses, it wasn’t a great week for the Salmonbellies. However, Roughnecks lefty Brandon Goodwin had himself a pretty good week.

In the first game of the week against the Nanaimo Timbermen, Goodwin recorded a hat-trick. The next day against the Shamrocks, he scored two goals, including one on the power play, and had two assists, to give himself seven points on the week.

Peter McFetridge and the Burnaby Lakers faced the Maple Ridge Burrards in a close game that featured plenty of rough stuff. McFetridge recorded a pair of penalty minutes in the contest.

On the other side of the floor, Frankie Scigliano had himself quite the evening. The big man was exceptional between the pipes, stopping 35 of 39 shots while playing 70 minutes of lacrosse. His strong performance led the Burrards to a 6-4 win.
