Josh Currier is a Roughneck from Day 1 this season, and he’s delighted about it.
The Peterborough native enters his seventh NLL season and second with the Roughnecks and is happy to run his first full camp with the team after an early season trade to the Riggers from the Rush last year.
“It’s definitely really nice,” he said. “I know it took me a few weeks last year just to get into the swing of things and figure out how the offence was running. With all the knowledge I got from last year with the offence and personnel it’s been a lot smoother start to the season this year and I feel I’m way further ahead.
“To be able to have a full season with all the plays memorized already is going to be huge for me personally.”

The Roughnecks battle the Saskatchewan Rush in Moose Jaw Saturday in their final preseason tune up. Currier says it’s all about tightening up some areas before next week’s season-opener.
“I think this week is all about dialing in our systems,” he explained. “After this game we only have a week before it really matters so getting all our plays in order and getting that stuff figured out, I think we will be good.
“All the other stuff is looking pretty good so far but that’s the last piece we need to be really focusing on this weekend.”
As we head into the last week of the preseason, Currier has been impressed with how the group has worked in camp and the strides they’ve already taken.
“I think it’s gone really smoothly with the new coaches,” said Currier. “I’m happy with where the team is at. Our offence has been clicking good, our defence is looking great, and Delbs (Christian Del Bianco) is still looking like Delbs. Just from the couple exhibition games we’ve had so far we’re pretty pleased with how the team is looking.
“I know we still have a long way to go if we want to make the run we’re planning on making but it’s definitely a good start so far.”
