There were some big changes to the Roughnecks roster in the offseason.
The stats tell us that while some big names are no longer here, the players entering the lineup are more than capable of filling those roles. Let’s take a look at the numbers midway through training camp.

The Roughnecks made some moves up front in the offseason specifically at the lefty forward position adding Dane Dobbie, Curtis Dickson and Mathieu Gautier through free agency, trade and dispersal draft. Veterans Dobbie and Dickson and youngster Gautier have scored 2,210 points combined over 28 seasons in the league.

The last time Jesse King, Curtis Dickson and Dane Dobbie were together in the same offence for a season that wasn’t cut short was 2019. The Roughnecks won the championship that season. In 12 combined playoff games that year, the three-headed monster put up 60 points on their way to a finals victory over Buffalo. All three averaged more than four points per game with Dobbie scoring 26 in four games played on his way to collecting the 2019 NLL Playoff MVP.

The Riggers added three-time champion John Lintz to the roster in the offseason. Lintz, a veteran of 162 games played in the NLL, has 473 loose balls and 134 caused turnovers in his NLL career and will bring a steadying veteran presence to the back end.

The Riggers took Brayden Mayea with the fifth-overall pick in the past NLL draft. Mayea had 168 goals in 61 college games played with High Point. He also added 52 assists, 151 loose balls and 40 caused turnovers.

23 of the 28 players currently on the Roughnecks roster are 6-feet or taller. Reece Callies, as usual, is at the top standing at 6-foot-7. Eleven players on the roster right now are over 6-foot-3. The Roughnecks will be one of the tallest groups in the league once again this season.
