A slow start sunk the Roughnecks on Saturday night as the fell to Colorado by an 11-8 score.

Strong defence and goaltending were the story of the game early as the first goal didn’t come until over five and a half minutes into the game as Colorado bounced one in on starting goaltender Nick Rose to make the score 1-0.

The Mammoth struck twice quickly following the opening goal to make it 3-0.

Colorado would add two more to make it 5-0 heading into the second-quarter.

Curtis Dickson ended the Mammoth run with his 32nd of the season to make the score 5-1.

Tyler Pace beat Dillon Ward on the far side to get the Riggers within three, 5-2.

The Mammoth answered with two of their own to go back up by five. The score was 7-2 heading into the half.

Tanner Cook squeaked one through for the first goal of the second-half to make the score 7-3.

The Mammoth quickly answered to go up 8-3.

The Riggers pushed back again as Cook fired his second straight for the ‘Necks to make the score 8-4.

It was Colorado once again with the quick counter making it 9-4 as the teams went back-and-forth.

After another Mammoth goal, Curtis Dickson found the net with a dunk to make it 10-5 heading into the final frame.

Cook finished off the hat-trick after a beautiful defensive play from Harrison Matsuoka to make it 10-6.

Pace found the net for his second of the night to get the Riggers within three, 10-7.

The Mammoth scored again before Dan Dobbie found the net for his first of the night to make the final 11-7 Colorado.

 

NEXT UP 

The Riggers finish their two game road trip next Saturday in Buffalo when they take on the Bandits.
