Let’s get to know forward Riley Loewen!
Loewen, 36, was drafted in the second round (11th overall) in 2013 by the Edmonton Rush. The B.C product was later acquired in a trade by the Riggers in 2017 and helped the team to a championship in 2019.

The veteran is now playing in his second stint with the club and is the most experienced player of the group.
“I love coming to the rink with these guys, especially all these young guys keeping me on my toes,” Loewen said.
Returning to familiar territory, Loewen says not much has changed in his role.
“I don’t think much has changed, to be honest. Back then it was myself kind of in the third or fourth spot of the lefties playing with Dane (Dobbie) and Jeff Shattler.” Loewen added, “Now it’s Tanner (Cook) and Brayden Mayea. So, yeah, not too much has changed. I just try to chip in where I can.”
Loewen has 29 points (14G, 15A) in 13 games this season

Nickname: Roddy

Weight: 192 lb.
Birthdate: Sept 26, 1999
Hometown: Burnaby, B.C.
Shoots: Left
Q: How did you get into lacrosse?
A: So, my dad never played, no one in my family played. So, I think he (Riley’s dad) had my brother in T-ball, baseball, and couldn’t watch the games. It was just too painful for him, like so boring. So, he was driving home, I think, and just saw a Burnaby Minor Lacrosse Association registration sign. And he’s like, ah, let’s try to put them in.
Q: Occupation?
A: I’m a project manager for a mechanical contractor.
Q: Favourite athlete growing up?
A: Probably Pavel Bure, that’s why I wore number 10 a lot of the time. Also, Joe Sakic, just because he’s from Burnaby.
Q: Morning person or night owl?
A: I would say I’m probably a morning person.
Q: If you could be a pro in any other sport, what would it be?
A: Golf.
Q: Do you have any superstitions?
A: Nope.
Q: What’s something people don’t know about you?
A: I’m a father of two. I got almost a four-year-old and a one-year-old. Pretty rare on our team; we don’t have any guys with kids.
Q: When you’re not playing lacrosse, what’s your biggest hobbies?
A: I don’t get to play as much now, having kids, but golf is my number one, and then, honestly, just going and taking my kids to the park and/or going to my nephew’s lacrosse games or hockey games or whatever. I just like going to the rink and kind of watching them play.
Q: Do you have a favourite lacrosse memory?
A: I guess I’d go with the recency bias in 2019 (Winning the NLL Championship). Like, I still remember when Duchy scored, just kind of. .. going crazy, I assisted it to him, too, so just being a part of it.

A: I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith.
Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I think I wanted to be a physiotherapist, but I wasn’t too good at biology, so I had to pivot on that one.
Q: Typical game day meal?
A: It would be like pasta or a chicken parm.
Q: Favourite TV show or movie?
A: Right now, I’m watching The Pit.
Q: Dream vacation spot?
A: Probably Thailand.
Q: Cats or dogs?
A: Dogs.
Q: What would your entrance song be?
A: Till I Collapse by Eminem.
Q: If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: I’d say tacos.
Q: Favorite cheat-meal after a win?
