ILIndoor’s sixth edition of the Top 50 players in lacrosse is based on voting from Stephen Stamp, Bob Chavez, Marty O’Neill and Teddy Jenner.
Each voter submitted a Top 50 list, and names on the list were awarded points based on the vote. A No. 1 vote was awarded 50 points, No. 2 got 49 points, etc. ILIndoor will publish 2 Top 50 profiles per day through the end of November, then move to 1 per day through December up to the National Lacrosse League season opener.
Included in each profile is statistics for the most recent season(s) and comments from each voter on the player being profiled.
Dan MacRae

Marty O’Neill
MacRae has been toiling in the framework of the Calgary defense since 2011. What Dan brings to the Roughnecks is breakaway speed in transition and on the draw team. Responsibilities have mounted for MacRae which is reflected in his massive amounts of playing time. While goal scoring isn’t his calling card, McRae can bury and often does with flare. His defense is top notch which has him worthy of top 50 status.
Bob Chavez
This has been a long time coming for MacRae, a left-handed defender out of Oakville. Sure, he put up his career offensive numbers with 21 points (4-17), but his work on the back end for Calgary the last 6 seasons has been steadily ascending. He led the team in loose balls (104) and was among the leaders in caused turnovers (22) but it’s his speed and stride out of the back end that is so valuable for the Riggers. He’s smart with the ball and is dangerous in the transition moments where decisions are made in a flash. More often than not, he makes the right choice and gives Calgary that dimension of being difficult to defend on the run.
Stephen Stamp
2014 was a breakout year for MacRae. Since then he has only reinforced that he is one of the most consistent defenders in the league. Over the last couple of seasons, MacRae’s leadership and floor running have both stepped up to a new level. He’s become the kind of player opposing teams have to plan how they’re going to deal with.
Teddy Jenner
Danny Mac is one of my favourite guys to watch play the game. He makes it look so effortless when he’s on the floor as he moves with such grace and ease. What makes him so special though, is his tenacity. He’s very unassuming when you look at him off the floor but once he straps it on, there aren’t too many more that are as dedicated and passionate about getting the ball back than MacRae.
