VS. SASKATCHEWAN: The Calgary Roughnecks (2-2) head to Saskatoon to face the Saskatchewan Rush (2-1) in their first-ever game at SaskTel Centre. The Rush are coming off of a strong performance in Week 5 that saw them beat the West Division-leading Colorado Mammoth, 12-10. Rush star Mark Matthews lead Saskatchewan forwards with six points (4g, 2a), while Zack Greer (3g, 2a), Riley Loewen (3a) and Chris Corbeil (1g, 1a) provided solid efforts in the win. On the Roughnecks side, they enter the contest after a 15-13 win over the Vancouver Stealth on Jan. 30. Dane Dobbie was the Riggers’ offensive leader with eight points (3g, 5a). Jeff Shattler (3g, 2a), Wesley Berg (1g, 3a) and Curtis Dickson (4g, 1a) all had big nights for the ’Necks. Calgary’s defensive unit also contributed up front with tallies from Jon Harnett (1g, 1a), Greg Harnett (1g), netting the game winner, and rookie Tyson Bell (1g, 2a) who notched his first career NLL goal.
ON PAR: The Roughnecks are .500 for the first time since Feb. 8, 2014, when Calgary improved to 3-3 after posting a 15-13 road win over Minnesota. The Roughnecks then won their next three contests and remained above .500 for the duration of the 2014 regular season, finishing with a 12-6 record.
RECORD BOOK: On Jan. 9 in Buffalo, Dane Dobbie became the franchise’s all-time goal-scoring leader (275) after netting two goals, 1:07 apart, to pass the mark of 274 previously held by Kaleb Toth. Toth, who spent 11 of his 13 NLL seasons with Calgary, retired in December 2012. Dobbie, now in his ninth NLL season with the Roughnecks, leads the team with 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) through four games played. He finished the 2015 campaign in the top-3 in team scoring with 36 goals and 31 assists for 67 points. Dobbie was selected by Calgary in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2007 NLL Draft.
