Goalie Frankie Scigliano has already surpassed the amount of time he played all of last year.
Coming in for relief of starter Mike Poulin, Scigliano played the final 40 minutes on Friday night, allowing eight goals on 30 shots the rest of the way.
“It felt good out there. It’s good to see minutes when you can so you have to take advantage of them when you can and help the team out the best way that you can,” said Scigliano.
Last year, Scigliano served as the backup to Poulin, and only played 21:48 seconds the entire year.
He beat out rookie Pete Dubenski in training camp to remain as number two on the Roughnecks depth chart, and Friday night marked his first significant NLL action since the 2012 season.
“As a goalie, you like to play,” Scigliano said. “I support Poulin as much as I can so me not playing is not a big issue but when I get called upon, I try to step up and do as well as I can.”
Scigliano made a number of nice saves in relief, and gives head coach Curt Malawsky a reliable number two option in the net.

They may play on opposite ends of the Battle of Alberta, but it’s easy to tell the respect the Roughnecks have for the retired Jimmy Quinlan. His #81 was raised into the Rexall Place rafters in a ceremony before the game. Curt Malawsky talked about his friendship with Quinlan in a video aired during the ceremony, and Roughnecks captain Andrew McBride was the first person to congratulate him after the ceremony finished.
Geoff Snider previously said he was surprised the milestone was coming up, but the Roughnecks transition star hit 100 career goals on Friday night. His career best is 19 goals in a season, which he would break if he keeps up his current pace.
