The Calgary Roughnecks and the Alberta Lacrosse Association (ALA) are proud to continue their impactful partnership through the Roughnecks Lacrosse Literacy program, now entering its second year of funding and support. This grassroots initiative aims to introduce the sport of lacrosse to students across Alberta by providing access to equipment, sports education, and hands-on opportunities for involvement.

Building on the success of its first year, the Roughnecks Lacrosse Literacy program delivers in-school and community-based programming that breaks down barriers to participation and brings the game directly to youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it. Through this collaboration, both organizations are committed to growing the game across the province and inspiring a new generation of players and fans.

The Alberta Lacrosse Association is excited to build on the strong foundation established through this partnership. Working alongside the Calgary Roughnecks for a second year allows the ALA to deepen its impact and expand access to the sport across Alberta. The Roughnecks’ continued commitment helps more students discover lacrosse, develop new skills, and create a lasting connection to the game.

As the program enters its second year, Roughnecks Lacrosse Literacy continues to expand its reach, promoting physical literacy, teamwork, and long-term athlete development, while strengthening community ties and encouraging a lifelong love of the sport.
