Ottawa responded in the last minute-and-a-half of the quarter with a couple of goals from Connor Kearnan and Jeff Teat to take the lead to closeout the first.
Kearnan and the Ottawa offence continued to build momentum at the beginning of the second after scoring on a powerplay tally to extend a 3-1 lead.
The Riggers answered back with a pair of goals from Cook and Pace, but the Black Bears outscored the ‘Necks 4-2 in the second quarter to take a 6-3 lead at halftime.
The Roughnecks rally began with Pace potting his second and third of the contest just under a minute apart. Pace then assisted on Dickson’s first of the night to cut the Ottawa lead to 7-6.
