Calgary Roughnecks goaltender Christian Del Bianco, in partnership with Ascent Consulting Ltd, has today launched his Assists for Kids program supporting KidSport. Since it’s inception in 2018-19, the program has raised over $38,000 for youth sport programs in Alberta.
For every assist made by the Roughnecks goaltender in the 2023-24 NLL regular season, Ascent Consulting will donate $500 to KidSport, with Del Bianco and the Roughnecks Foundation also contributing $30 each.
“Ascent Consulting is incredibly proud of Christian and his accomplishments last year. Thanks to Christian and his teammates’ efforts, we were able to provide our largest ever donation in a single year to KidSport” said Bill Alston, President of Ascent Consulting Ltd.
“This comes at a critical time for families and KidSport, as the current high cost of living means some families must make tough choices when it comes to registering their children in sport. Hopefully the money raised will help ease some of the challenges. We wish Christian and the Roughnecks all the best in the 2023-2024 season!”
“I’m proud that this program is entering its fifth year, and it’s great that I can continue to work with Bill and Ascent Consulting in supporting youth sport in Alberta,” said Del Bianco. “I’m ready for the season to get underway, I feel confident about our ability to surpass our fundraising total from last season, my goal is 20 assists this year so we’ll see if I can make that happen for KidSport.”
In the 2022-23 season, Del Bianco made a career-high 19 assists in 18 games, raising $10,640.
The Roughnecks regular season is set to begin this Saturday, December 2nd at Blue Cross Arena as the Roughnecks take on the Rochester Knighthawks in Rochester, NY. Game time is 5:00pm MST and fans can catch all the action on TSN Direct.
