CALGARY, AB – The Calgary Roughnecks Lacrosse Club would like to congratulate assistant general manager and head coach Curt Malawsky (“muhl-OW-ski”) and eastern scout Brian Beisel (“beez-ull”) on being named to the Team Canada U17 coaching staff for the 2017 Heritage Cup.

The U17 showcase will see the best up-and-coming box lacrosse players from the Canadian Lacrosse Association and Iroquois Nationals face-off on Saturday, October 21, at Hamilton’s FirstOntario Centre as part of the Heritage Cup.

The fall matchup marks the first time Malawsky will stand behind Team Canada’s bench and the second time for Beisel who previously joined the nation’s U17 coaching staff at the 2015 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.

Youth athletes from across the country born in 2001 or 2002 are encouraged to apply for the team using the online form at www.lacrosse.ca. Further details on the process, including eligibility criteria and costs, can be found on the form. The deadline to submit an application is Thursday, September 14.
