TEAM TO PLAY ON NEVER BEFORE SEEN TEAL TURF AS PART OF FIVE-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH WESTJET

Calgary, AB – The Calgary Roughnecks announced today that they will return to action for the 2021-22 National Lacrosse League season on WestJet Field at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

As part of the franchises’ five-year partnership with WestJet, players will compete on a first-of-its-kind teal turf. In addition to a new playing field, WestJet will host youth for unique on-field experiences through the airline’s WestJet Cares for Kids program at all home games this season, and will become the official travel partner of the Roughnecks through 2026.

“We are very pleased to have a significant partner like WestJet, that calls Calgary their company headquarters, join us to support and promote the Calgary Roughnecks,” said VP and Governor of the Roughnecks Mike Moore. “WestJet field will create a one-of-a-kind fan experience across the National Lacrosse League, and we know that our fans will enjoy the experience of watching the Roughnecks play on the new teal turf.”

“As Calgary’s hometown airline we’re thrilled to support the Roughnecks as their season takes flight on the league’s first-ever teal WestJet Field,” said Angela Avery, WestJet EVP External Affairs. “As we build back stronger from the pandemic, we are looking forward to engaging with the community and creating memorable experiences for Roughnecks fans and youth together with our WestJet Cares for Kids charitable partners this season.”

The 2021-22 Calgary Roughnecks will also be taking on a new look, including a brand new colour scheme and updated logo for the franchise. Jerseys will feature a black, white, and grey design with a pared-back logo featuring the Calgary roughneck as central to the design.

“We’re excited about the clean, crisp new look for our jerseys,” said Moore. “They represent what our team brings to the field; toughness, and grit.”

“WestJet Field is going to be awesome to play on, the teal colour is going to pop – especially for the televised games,” said Calgary Roughnecks forward Dan Taylor. “The combination of the jerseys and turf is going to look so good when we’re out there playing in front of the best fans in the NLL.”

The Roughnecks also announced today a new NLL partnership with Fanatics, the global leader for licensed sports merchandise. Beginning today at Fanatics.ca, fans in Canada have access to a full collection of NLL Shop items, including jerseys, t-shirts, hats, and more, with Canadian pricing as well as easier and more cost effective shipping to Canadian addresses. Fans can pick up new jerseys for the 2021-22 season and all other Roughnecks merchandise on Fanatics.ca from September 8th, or at FanAttic and CGY Team Store locations.
