300 – Dane Dobbie became the first player in a Roughnecks jersey and the 25th player in NLL history to reach the 300-goal plateau. He completed this feat with a goal in Colorado on Jan. 20. Twelve games later, his teammate Curtis Dickson joined him in the elite scoring club. Dickson hit the mark against the Rochester Knighthawks on April 1.
11,622 – It’s common knowledge that Roughnecks fans are incredible and they continued to live up to that reputation by filling the Rough House each and every weekend. Through eight home games, the Riggers fan base is averaging over 10,000 fans at each game, with a total of 104,599 enjoying the festivities.
54 – Through 18 weeks of the NLL season, Curtis Dickson is the goal-scoring leader with 54 tallies to his name. The next closest scorer is Vancouver’s Corey Small, who has 46 goals on the season.
50 – The Roughnecks have been extremely efficient in drawing penalties this season, having earned 98 powerplays, the second-most in the NLL. Calgary has taken advantage of those opportunities, scoring 50 goals with the man advantage. Dane Dobbie has led the charge on the PP, scoring 16 goals. Wesley Berg (13g) and Curtis Dickson (11g) have also been key components of the Riggers powerplay.
82 – Back on Jan. 14, the Roughnecks went into the Langley Events Centre and defeated the Vancouver Stealth 14-10 in a wild affair. After 15 penalty minutes in the first three quarters, myriad roughing majors and game misconducts added another 67 penalty minutes. With a total of 82, the Riggers set an individual team high in PIMS for a single game in 2017.
400 – Jeff Shattler has been dishing dimes since he joined the Roughnecks in 2007. The veteran left-hander has assisted on 51 goals in 2017, which has helped him surpass 400 assists in his career. Shattler is the only player in Roughnecks history to reach this milestone. He currently sits at 417.
682 – On Jan. 28, Jeff Shattler recorded five points against the Mammoth, giving him 632 points and making him the new Roughnecks all-time points leader, passing Kaleb Toth. Since that date, the lefty has continued to set the bar higher and higher. Still the top Riggers scorer of all-time, he has a total of 682 career points.
1100 – Big milestones have been a weekly thing for Shattler in 2017. The most recent milestone was accomplished on April 8 against the Buffalo Bandits (the team that originally drafted Shattler) when he scooped his 1,100th loose ball. He is the Roughnecks all-time leader in that category.
111 – Dane Dobbie has been a beast on the powerplay for his entire career. Even in 2017, his 16 PP goals rank him second in the entire league, just behind Robert Church (19 PPG). In his career, Dobbie has scored 111 times with the man advantage, which ranks him first all-time. The next closest Roughneck is Tracey Kelusky, who had 58 during his time with the club.
8 – 2 – A consistent topic of conversation this year has been about the Roughnecks getting strong starts in games. On the season, when Calgary can come out of the first quarter with a lead, they have earned a 8-2 record. That record improves to 8-1 when that lead carries into the fourth quarter..
7 – Against the Georgia Swarm on March 4, the Roughnecks went out and put up seven goals in the first quarter. That total is the highest in the first quarter by any team in 2017.
7 – In that same game against the Swarm, Dane Dobbie was on fire, scoring seven goals, the most by any player in a single game this season.
100 – For the second consecutive year, star forward Curtis Dickson has reached 100 points. With 54 goals and 54 assists, Dickson surpassed his 107-point performance from 2016 by a single point.
115 – Gary Gait, one of the NLL’s greatest goal scorers of all-time, owns a two-year scoring record of 116 goals. Dickson finished the 2017 season with 115 goals, just shy of tying Gait’s record.
291 – Although he’s only been with the Roughnecks for two seasons, defender Tyler Burton now sits in second place in Riggers all-time faceoff wins. With 291 wins on the draw, Burton has passed Nolan Heavenor for second place, but sits 1,103 wins behind the man in first place, Geoff Snider.
600 – Dane Dobbie entered the season 23 points shy of 600 and he closed the gap on the milestone in short order. The veteran lefty reached the mark on Feb. 4 against the Rush. Upon reaching this milestone, Dobbie joined Jeff Shattler and Kaleb Toth as the only Roughnecks to score as many points. Dobbie has since added 60 more points to his resume and sits second all-time among Calgary scorers with 660.
8 – Tyson Bell opened the season with the goal of finding the score sheet on a more consistent basis in his sophomore year. He’s done that, increasing his point output from 9 in 2016 to 14 (so far) in 2017. His eight goals this year put him in a tie for second in goals scored by a defender. The other defenders with eight goals are Damon Edwards, and Brad Gillies.
500 – In 2017, Dan MacRae has scooped 98 loose balls, giving him more than 500 in his career. The seven-year veteran currently sits with 518, which slots him sixth all-time among Roughnecks.
600 – A couple spots above MacRae on the Roughnecks all-time loose ball list is captain Mike Carnegie, who recently reached the 600 level. The 10-year veteran currently has 608 career loose balls.
3 – You know he’s dangerous at even strength and on the powerplay, but did you know that Curtis Dickson is also a menace on the penalty kill? So far in 2017, Dickson is tied for second in the NLL for the most short-handed goals at three. He is tied with Joey Cupido, Lyle Thompson, and Kevin Buchanan.
