Curtis Dickson powered Calgary’s scoring attack with 10 goals and seven assists in the two-game set. His 17 points included an 11-point outing in Georgia on Mar. 25, 2016, matching a single-game best set in 2015. Randy Staats topped the Swarm with 10 points (3g, 7a) in the 2016 series. FAMILIAR FACE: Goaltender Mike Poulin, who spent parts of seven seasons with the Roughnecks from 2010-16, returns to Calgary for the first time this evening after he signed with the Georgia Swarm in the off-season. Calgary acquired Poulin from the Boston Blazers in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2011 NLL Draft. He earned a 52-31 record with the Riggers and was named NLL Goaltender of the Year in 2012.
MID-WAY MARK: Calgary is 3-6 at the halfway point of their 2017 NLL regular season. During the 2016 campaign, the Roughnecks were also 3-6 after their first nine games. Calgary then went 5-4 in the second half of last year to finish 2016 with an 8-10 record.
LEADER OF THE PACK: Roughnecks forward Curtis Dickson leads the league in goals at 27. Dickson has recorded 286 goals over 111 games in seven seasons with Calgary. Only six of the 111 contests have seen Dickson held goalless, most recently on Feb. 25 against Saskatchewan when he finished the game with three assists.
SPECIAL TEAMS WATCH: Calgary’s penalty kill is second-best in the league at 50%. Conversely, the Roughnecks’ power play ranks sixth at 54.55%. Of Calgary’s 24 power play goals scored this season, Dane Dobbie leads the team with seven (tied for fourth overall in the league) followed by Wesley Berg with six (tied for eighth overall in the league). Dobbie’s single-season best is 15 power play goals, last achieved in 2015. Berg recorded nine extra-attacker goals during his 2016 rookie campaign.
